My name is Soyoung Kim and I am from South Korea
I came here almost two years ago and also I will finish my AA degree next December. I want to share my Riverland Community College experience with you.
How wonderful it is. When I came here the first time I couldn’t speak English because it was hard to understand for me. However, I wasn’t worried out it. My advisor, Mel Morem, and my friends were helping me. Right now I can speak and understand English very well.
Actually I applied to 5 community colleges in the United States, but I choose the Riverland. Since I don’t like hot weather and I don’t want to stay in a big city where there are many Koreans in the town. It was my hard challenge. Can you imagine if you stay alone in a different country without any family and friends? It would be hard but I choose most hard challenges in my life. I am very proud of me
